A cut above. In every sense.

Sol Sapphires was built on a simple belief - that a sapphire deserves the same precision, proportion, and uncompromising cut as the finest diamond. That belief started with my father. It drives everything we do today.

Where it began

My father, Andre Tissera, spent years in Bangkok building diamond manufacturing, trading, and jewellery businesses at the highest level of the industry. Having operated across every aspect of the trade, he understood exactly what jewellers need from a stone.
I grew up watching him obsess over cut quality, proportions, and the pursuit of perfection. When he moved our family to Sri Lanka, he brought that standard with him and applied it to sapphires. It was the culmination of everything he had learned across the trade.

He founded Sapphirus Lanka with a clear mission: to cut sapphires the way diamonds are cut. Proportionately. Perfectly. No compromising the cut for weight retention. No shortcuts. His tagline was "diamond-like sapphires", and he meant it literally.

That philosophy earned the attention of some of the world's most respected luxury houses. They know who we are. They keep coming back.

Built from the inside out

After completing my business degree in Melbourne, I, Yahren Tissera, returned to Sri Lanka and worked through every production department at Sapphirus Lanka: rough selection, cutting, polishing, grading, dispatch and buying. I didn't just learn the business. I mastered it.

I then spent years building the client base in person: introducing myself to jewellers across Toronto and New York, and exhibiting at the major trade shows in Tucson, Las Vegas and Hong Kong.

The hard part is getting in the door. After that, the product does the rest.

Sol Sapphires today

In 2020, I established Sol Sapphires - the direct market arm of what my father built. We are not a reseller. We are not a middleman. We are shareholders and run Sapphirus Lanka. We deal directly with the mines. Every stone you buy from Sol Sapphires was cut by our team, to our standard, at our factory in Sri Lanka.

Our stock turns fast, faster than we can list it. That's not an exaggeration, it's the reality of working with clients who respect quality and a high standard and come back the moment new inventory arrives.
